12+ months contract for a Hydraulic Test Engineer in Joliet, IL
Summary:
• Hydraulic Test Engineer responsible for testing hydraulic valves & components.
• This includes validation & troubleshooting of new, modified & existing designs.
Education/Experience required:
• B.S. degree in engineering
• Three to five years engineering experience, including hydraulic component testing
Skills and Competencies Required:
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, hydraulic schematics and hydraulic test instructions.
• Working knowledge of hydraulic testing processes & equipment and hydraulic schematics.
• Previous experience with instrumentation, computer applications and testing related to engineering field.
• Working knowledge in Pro Engineer / CREO
• Verbal and written communication skills
• Analytical and problem solving ability.
• Team player and detail oriented.
• Strong mechanical aptitude / skilled in using hand tools.
• Strong focus on safety

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, hydraulic schematics and hydraulic test instructions
• Working knowledge of hydraulic testing processes & equipment and hydraulic schematics.

Major Job Duties & Responsibilities:
• Work with design engineers to produce test plans for hydraulic components.
• Prepare hydraulic components for testing (procurement, assembly).
• Connect components to the hydraulic test stands.
• Setup the test stand control & data acquisition system and perform the required testing.
• Work with the design engineer to analyze the data collected, explain the results and give input to the design.
• Suggest further tests that would be helpful based on the test results obtained.
• Help troubleshoot and maintain test equipment as needed.
• Coordinate with design engineers and test lab to improve test efficiency and cost.
Desired Skills:
• Additional experience in hydraulic component design, development of test procedures, manufacturing processes, Lean Six Sigma methodology and tools.
