150444 Automotive Account Manager

Our customer located in Plymouth, MI is seeking an experienced Automotive Account Manager on a direct hire basis.

The salary range for this position is $85,000/year to $95,000/year, depending on level of experience. A company car and a 15% potential bonus are available. Relocation is available.

This company WILL NOT offer sponsorship or consider OPT candidates.

Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain contacts and relationships with potential and existing customers.
• Obtains and process RFQ requirements.
• Receives and verifies customer purchase orders (PO’s).
• Routine commercial and technical interaction with automotive manufacturers (OEM’s), including international and service entities.
• Visits to the engineering, purchasing and manufacturing sites of assigned automotive (OEM’s).
• Provide technical assistance in systematic problem-solving initiatives, and communicating / collaborating with internal departments and customers as necessary.
• Identify, develop and prepare quotations for new business opportunities and/or to reflect product design evolution.
• Ensure preparation of documentation and/or reports are completed as requirement (NAFTA, AALA, CAFE, etc.).
• Lead project management to communicate and ensure customer timelines are met.
• Negotiate and/or assist in resolving customer issues (pricing, quality, etc.).
• Develop and implement strategic plans, sales forecasts, marketing plans and materials, etc. required to effectively and profitably grow assigned customers.
• Review and monitor product development activities to ensure that the customer’s expectations are met and/or exceeded.
• Document and report, as appropriate, sales results, requirements, market trends, variances, etc.
• Provide commercial and technical assistance effectively on a global basis.

Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Engineering; Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in OEM / Tier automotive sales and account management.
• Previous experience in negotiating with purchasing and/or engineering departments is preferred.
• Project management experience is desired.
• Experience in dealing with GM, Ford, Chrysler or Toyota, and a good understand of their related processes/systems (SSTS, SDS, SOR, SOW, etc.), including their APQP process is desired.
• Knowledge, understanding, and experience with vehicle systems and/or vehicle sub-systems (steering, driveline or vehicle dynamics is preferred).
• Excellent planning and organization skills are required.
• Ability to work in a team-oriented / multi-cultural environment utilizing effective interpersonal skills.
• Superior analytical, problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication / presentation skills, written and verbal along with having excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with customers.
• High degree of initiative with ability to make decisions.
• Ability to prioritize and deal with multiple assignments simultaneously.
• Knowledge of PC’s and related software, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• 10% to 20% travel is required both by car and plane. The travel will depend on the program assigned. If working on a global program, it will involve international travel to Japan and Europe as well as our manufacturing facilities here in North America. The travel will not exceed 25% though.
