Job description:
We are looking for someone with safety management in industrial manufacturing.
The Safety Health and Security Manager is responsible for working with operations, maintenance, staff functions, and Union Leadership to develop initiatives and programs promoting safe work practices and improvements. Lead and facilitate compliance with all applicable safety and health regulations.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide leadership to support and assist all levels of management in achieving the facility and corporate goals for reduction of work-related injuries. Zero injuries is our goal
Assist in planning and implementing programs and processes to maintain a workplace that meets or exceeds federal and state safety requirements
Coordinate Emergency Management Oversight including Emergency Responses and FM loss control
Location expert in safety and security matters including integration of Health & Safety Best Practices into the mill
Ensures a proactive approach to injury prevention
Support mill Manufacturing Excellence initiatives
Demonstrate Commitment Model leadership behaviors
Lead the mills Safety and Security departments
Provide oversight with Workers Compensation activities
Lead all safety training and ergonomic improvement initiatives
Oversee all contractor safety initiatives
Direct supervision of Health Services & Safety Advocates
Possess ambulatory capabilities to move around the mill, climb ladders, and catwalks
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree or higher in safety engineering, industrial hygiene, or related field experience plus 7-10 years of manufacturing experience
Proven leadership with 5 years of demonstrated effectiveness in management role in an industrial safety environment
Demonstrated leadership in Process Safety Management program improvements
COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
Effective communication and leadership skills as well as demonstrated abilities to champion change and influence others at all levels of the organization are required
Previous experience in a union environment with an excellent safety performance record is highly desired
Industrial Hygiene knowledge
Ability to give encouragement, guidance, and direction to improve safety performance
Ability to listen generously and practice open advocacy
Ability to inspire and guide others toward identifying and achieving vision and goals
Bottom Line Requirements:
1. Bachelor's degree or higher in safety engineering, industrial hygiene, or related field.
2. 7 + years of industrial manufacturing safety experience.
3. 5 + years of management in an industrial safety environment including Union experience.
4. Demonstrated leadership in Process Safety Management program improvements
