Supplier Quality Engineer (Avionics)
Overview:
Supporting our suppliers is essential to ensuring SpaceX receives parts that are reliable and on-time. SpaceX has a world class team and is looking to grow to support increasing demand.

Responsibilities
Provide meaningful monthly supplier performance reports to all suppliers and ensure that these reports are effective in improving the SpaceX supply chain.

Implement and monitor advanced quality planning with existing and selected future product suppliers.
Assure supplier understanding of product and submission requirements.
Review supplier manufacturing processes and quality systems.
Implement and monitor the part qualification certification process with selected suppliers.
Function as liaison between purchasing, engineering, manufacturing and suppliers to resolve supplier quality issues and to provide technical support.

Determine cause of supplier quality problems and coordinate/implement effective and timely resolutions.
Improve quality performance of suppliers by conducting workshops at supplier locations, providing technical assistance in developing a quality system, or other technical support as required.

Maintain required documentation and files and provide appropriate quality metrics for management reviews.
Determine part critical characteristics and required process controls.
May participate as member or resource to product development teams.
Recommend technical product improvements evaluating risks and potential quality defect opportunities.
Provide support for Receiving Inspection by preparing and maintaining inspection plans as needed.
Participate in Material Review Board decisions.
Strong understanding of quality systems and processes.
Experience with Manufacturing Processes (Machine shops, PCB fabrication, cables/harnesses, etc.).
Knowledge of statistical techniques and methods (like DOE, Six Sigma, etc.).
Experience with MRP or ERP systems.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering field required.
Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience with Manufacturing Processes related to avionics (Machine shops, PCB fabrication, cables/harnesses, etc.).

Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience with Quality Systems (ISO 9000/TS/AS9100).

Preferred skills and Experience:
Discipline approach to problem solving - 8D.
Highly Proficient in MS Office packages and report writing.
Technical capabilities include knowledge of 2D 'Blueprints' and 'Model drawings'.
Demonstrate knowledge of SQA processes i.e. PPAP; APQP; FAIR, etc.
High level of integrity (including demanding the truth; doing the right thing & drives diversity).
Innovation and Technical Excellence & Courage.
Drive for results and Customer satisfaction.
Develop and assist teams.
Demonstrate knowledge of lean concepts.
Active learning to understand the 'business' Planning and Organising
Collaboration & Teamwork (attention to detail, analytical in order to plan and organize).
Sharing information and influencing others (Strong written and verbal communication skills, Able to liaise cross functionally, internally & externally, make presentations to team members and management).

Additional Requirements:
Travel up to 60-75% is required (valid drivers license mandatory).
Position requires long hours and some nights and weekends.
Ability to meet travel requirements.

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
