Bridge Section Manager
Company is currently seeking a licensed professional Structural Engineer to join their Rail Bridge Team in Omaha, NE. Qualified candidates must have 10 or more years of experience in railroad bridges and other structures.
Essential Job Functions
Project Management
Manage design, permitting, and construction services for the assigned project efficiently and responsibly.
Will be required to maintain positive client relationships on a regular basis.
Participate in adopting and improving design standards to improve or enhance our practice.
Sensitive to clients' needs and prioritizing information that client needs.
Estimate fee, scope, and actively participate in the proposal process.
Design
Proficient in the use of the AREMA Manual for Railway Engineering for design of railway structures.
Proficient in the use of Microstation V8i or other CADD software.
Proficient in the use of RISA 3D or other structural analysis software.
Understand inclusion and exclusion of scope of services for different project types.
Enforce methods on projects you are managing.
Quality Control
Insure that quality control procedures are maintained.
Client Relations
Communicate effectively with clients, sub consultants, contractors, and government agencies and meet their expectations.
Attend progress meetings for projects.
Staff Management
Manage drafters and engineers working on your projects.
Motivate staff working on your projects.
Maintain a good rapport with all levels of staff members.
Demonstrate leadership abilities with project team.
Manage staff working on your projects to communicate effectively to achieve project goals and meeting deadlines.
Manage staff to see that designs and plans are compiled properly, on-time and in a quality fashion.
Manage assigned work load and schedule effectively with given resources.
Communicate with Operations Manager in advance when the schedule or deadlines change.
Actively participate and adhere to our safety program and ensure that all team members are as well.
Requirements and Qualifications:
Must have a BS or a MS in Civil Engineering
10 or more years of experience in railroad bridges and structures design
Licensed Professional Engineer, preferred Structural Engineer
Experience and proficiency in performing structural planning, calculations, and plan development.
Experience with project management
Self-starter with strong problem solving skills
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Excellent work ethic and a comprehensive understanding of engineering principles
Bottom Line Requirements:
1. BS or MS in Civil Engineering or related.
2. 10 to 20 years of consulting engineering experience in railroad bridges and other structures.
3. Licensed Professional Engineer, preferably in Structural Engineering.
4. Experience and proficiency in performing structural planning, calculations, and plan development.
5. Experience with project management.
